Hal Aqua and The Lost Tribe play klezmer – Jewish “soul music” based in traditional Eastern European modes and melodies. Klezmer is deeply emotional music, steeped in centuries of joy, suffering, and everything in between. Rather than treating their source material as dusty historical artifacts, The Lost Tribe endeavors to bring an immediacy to their performances, drawing the audience into a spirited celebration of life. The music for “Memories and Well Grounded Hopes” is a blend of original songs and traditional klezmer, drawing from both old dance tunes and contemporary grooves and exploring the themes of memory, the spiritual and the earthly, and love in its many forms.
