This would be a good time to get a preview of San Francisco Ballet’s “Unbound: A Festival of New Works” in advance of next year. Only this time, Smuin Contemporary American Ballet is the beneficiary, with a dance by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa.
In the “Dance Series 01” that kicks off the 24th season for the company in Walnut Creek on Friday, Sept. 22, one of the dances features the West Coast premiere of “Requiem for a Rose” by Ochoa, one of 12 choreographers who will be participating in S.F. Ballet’s 2018 festival.
Also on the program that comes to San Francisco on Sept. 29, and to Mountain View and Carmel in February and March, are “Serenade for Strings” by Garrett Ammon and “Fly Me to the Moon,” a tribute to Frank Sinatra by the late Michael Smuin, who founded the company in 1994.
